Question:
2021 Subaru Ascent - Looking at your 58 inch cross bars, either the square or airflow2 models, and looking to add two seawing kayak carriers. If the seawings are 27-1/2 inches wide, it only leave 3 inches of unused space, which seems awfully tight. Would it be better to get the 65 inch cross bars? Which model is the quietest in terms of wind noise? Also, does Malone make something similar to the seawing to carry two paddle boards? Thanks!

Let's start with the quietest crossbars, and that's 100 percent the aero bars, as the square bars will be quite loud in terms of wind noise. As for the right size, so long as your kayaks don't go past the 27-1/2 inch width of the SeaWing, the 58 inch crossbars are perfectly fine.
I would not go with the 65 as though they will technically fit, they'll stick out past the sides of your 2021 Subaru Ascent to the point you (and others walking by your car) would have to make sure to avoid them. So I would use the following:
- Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Silver # MPG216 or Black # MAL84AR
- Malone SeaWing Kayak Carrier # MPG107MD
And while Malone doesn't have something similar to the SeaWing for paddle boards, there is an option from Thule that will work to carry two boards and fit on the Malone roof rack, which is the Thule SUP Shuttle Stand-Up Paddleboard Carrier # TH811XT.
