Hi there, I have a 2001 Toyota 4Runner, the spare tire is mounted underneath the car. Can thisor any othertow hitch be installed around the tire? Or will the tire need to be removed. Thanks!

The Draw Tite Hitch part # 75091 is confirmed to fit your 2001 Toyota 4Runner and we had a customer write in a review saying that this hitch installs without any interference with the factory spare tire.

The instructions for this product indicate that you might need to position the spare further forward, but that you would be able to retain the spare.

You will be able to keep your spare with this hitch.

The larger spare should fit with the Curt item #C13087 but no one tests these hitches out for larger than stock spare tires. We just don't have that information available to us. The reason I say the Curt should work is the exact reason you…

I attached a picture that has the install instructions for the Curt hitch #C13087 that you have as well as a link to them on this page as well. Sometimes the instructions are stuffed down the hitch tube opening which can make them harder to find.
