Question:

Hi, i have a 2022 subaru outback. I had the dealer install the subaru trailer hitch and subaru 4 pin connector. But I need 7 pin to tow trailers with brakes and charge the battery. What would i need? Thank You

If you use the Curt # C51180 Echo that you'd looked at, you'll use the # ETBC7L brake controller install kit. The kit includes the adapter to convert the 4-pole to a 7-way, as well as all the needed wiring, hardware and circuit breakers needed to complete the install. The kit includes the 12-V feed for the trailer battery. That 12-V circuit will keep the trailer mounted battery maintained, but it will NOT charge them once they're dead.

If you were to use a in-cab controller like the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR, you'll need the similar # ETBC7 which includes the stuff mentioned above as well as the output circuit for the in-cab controller.
