Question:
I have a 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz Limited sports AWD adventure, vehicle/truck. It is unibody with a max tongue, rating of 500 pounds. The Maximum tow rating is 5000 pounds with a brake controller. I have the Curt RV towing starter kit, which includes the Bluetooth Curt echo. We are looking to purchase a travel trailer not to exceed 5000 pounds my payload capacity is 1411 pounds which I don’t plan to exceed weight of passengers, gasoline, tongue, weight, etc. My question is since I have a unibody truck I do not need to use or should not use a sway bar or weight distribution hitch, correct. As I am looking at RV trailers sales people/dealers are talking about weight distribution, hitches and sway bars. I do not want to add anything like that if it’s going to harm my truck.

It's not exactly cut and dry but the owner's manual for a 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz does alluded to the use of a sway control type hitch sometimes known as a weight distribution system. That said, if you are unsure or uneasy it's always best to reach out to the dealer directly. If they are permitted which I believe to be the case, you'll likely want a better option than offered at the dealers, the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control part # BLU47FR is what I recommend.
