Question:
We have a 2015 Ford F-150 Ecoboost 6cyl 4WD with factory towing package. Our new camper is 27 ft and about 6800 pounds. It causes a bit of sagging and lightened steering. Not sure if we need the 6000 or 7000 pound version of Timbren. Also, can an average person install this at home?

You are going to want to use a Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37100ET for towing your new camper behind your 2015 Ford F-150. The weight distribution helps to transfer weight to the front of your F-150 which will help regain your normal steering feel. This weight distribution will also help to prevent trailer sway. It uses a friction sway to prevent sway which is superior to the electronic sway you may have on your F-150. It uses the brakes to slow the trailer when it senses trailer sway. This particular Equal-i-zer is rated for trailers up to 10,000lbs with 600-1,000lbs of tongue weight. If you can tell me what camper you have I can verify your tongue weights to ensure this is the correct hitch. This can be installed by an average person at home but you will need a 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 to install the hitch ball.
The Timbren # TFR1504E rated for 6,000lbs will help to reduce sag from your trailer but it does not transfer weight across your vehicle like the weight distribution. So you may still experience some light steering. The 7,000LB Timbren # TFRTT1504E is there severe duty and is only designed for trucks with heavy amounts of weight which will always be on the rear end. Personally I feel both of these are bad options as they diminish the stock ride quality when driving unloaded and they do not have the benefits you get from a weight distribution when towing.
