The cold side of the brake light switch on a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek should be a brown/white wire. That said, you will need to test to confirm which entails probing each of the wires at the brake pedal with a circuit tester until you find the one that only has power when the brake pedal is depressed. The other option would be to use a wireless trailer brake controller which does not require a stop light switch circuit connection. For this, you'd need the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter part # ETBC7L and the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller part # C51180.
