The Yakima DeepSpace 10 Rooftop Cargo Box # Y65RR is weather resistant but not waterproof.
Weather resistant means it does a great job at keeping the elements out and is essentially a standard among cargo boxes. Waterproof means the product can be completely submerged and the inside doesn't get wet - I have yet to find a cargo carrier with this impressive rating.
The weather resistant label can be a little confusing at times since it's a bit of a broad term. Some of the lower end cargo boxes are a little more prone to the elements getting in while higher end boxes, like the DeeopSpace10, do an amazing job at keeping the cargo inside protected against the elements.
