Question:
I am considering model 1146-1 tow bar baseplate for my 1989 Toyota 4x4 IFS. I am wondering what the best tow bar option is. I cant tell by the description or pictures if there is another piece required to use a Falcon or Falcon II. Please let me know what the full recommended equipment list is. Thx!

For your 1989 Toyota pickup 4x4 with independent front suspension the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 1146-1 will require a Crossbar # 910021-00. This crossbar will connect to the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522. I recommend using the All Terrain over the Falcon 2 # RM-520 as it will not bind up on you. This will make it easier to disconnect your Toyota when you reach your destination or need to unhook to maneuver your tow vehicle. You may need a High-Low Adapter like the 4" # RM-048-4 to keep the tow bars within 3" of level from tow vehicle to your Toyota.
The RoadMaster Falcon All-Terrain Combo Towing Kit # RM-9243-1 will give you a storage cover, storage bag, safety cables, lube, locks and the wiring needed to use your tail lights when flat towing. You will also want a Charge Line # RM-156-25 to maintain your battery while towing since you will need a supplemental braking system.
The Demco Supplemental Braking Systems are our best and easiest to use. You will need either the Air Force One # DM26VR if your tow vehicle has air brakes or Stay-N-Play Duo # DM86VR if you have hydraulic brakes on your tow vehicle. Both units will install under the hood with a small actuator that attaches to the brake pedal inside your cab.
