Question:

Hi i have a canadian made 2021 Ranger lariat. It has the tow haul button but didn’t come from the factory with a hitch or 7 plug in. What’s the difference between the two plug kits and which one is the right one for me? Also what was the brake controller you mention in the video?

In the 7-way trailer wiring kit part # C56431 install video you mentioned the brake controller that is seen is the Curt Echo Mobile part # C51180 which is a wireless phone controlled brake controller.

The other option we have is the Tekonsha 7-way part # 22124 which comes with additional wiring to wire in a traditional brake controller like the P3 part # 90195. If you were wanting a traditional brake controller this is kit to get. If you instead wanted the wireless Curt you'd want the # C56431.

If you plan to tow regularly I would recommend the P3 and the Tekonsha 7-way since it's tried and true. The Curt route just hasn't proved itself to be as reliable so I wouldn't recommend it unless towing would be pretty rare.
