Well the expert who answered the question for flat towing a 2014 SRX should also include instructions on how to put the transmission in neutral without leaving the key on. You cant shift to neutral without turning the key on and in neutral to cant turn the key off. So on a 6 or 8 hour drive towing the SRX, the battery will be dead.

The steps needed to place your 2014 Cadillac SRX's transmission in neutral to flat tow are listed in the owner's manual under the Recreational Vehicle Towing section:
1. Position the vehicle that will be towed and secure it to the towing vehicle.
2. Remove the shift lever boot by pulling up on the rear of the trim plate.
3. Use a small screwdriver or tool to press and hold the manual release button on the front right.
4. Put the vehicle in N (Neutral)
