Trouble Installing SuperLatch Handles for Yakima SkyBox Cargo Boxes

Question:

I just received replacement Skybox handles and am finding it very hard to lock. Once side locks, but the last 25 is very hard. The other side will go to about 90 but not to the point where I can remove the key. Im afraid to force it any more for fear of breaking the key off in the lock. What can I do to resolve this?

I have attached for you below some instructions for installing the SuperLatch Handles for Yakima SkyBox Cargo Boxes part # Y8880348. If you're having trouble using them after install, I suggest removing them and repeating the steps I have attached for you below to see if that solves the issue but if not please let me know and we can go from there.

Step 1. Unlock lid and open box
Step 2. Unscrew two screws that hold assembly to box from inside
Step 3. Turn key clockwise 270 degrees
Step 4. Firmly twist handle assembly counter clockwise till it removes from box then throw it away (or recycle)
Step 5. Remove new handle from packaging
Step 6. Insert key and lock the core
Step 7. Line up the two sections of the lock and then place on box
Step 8. Turn clockwise
Step 9. Screw handle in place
Step 10. Close lid
Step 11. Open lid after unlocking box
Step 12. Close lid and lock it then remove key
