Lid Won't Open on MaxxFan 7500K Deluxe Roof Vent Fan

Question:

I have a maxx air fan delux that started beeping intermittently while driving. We read elsewhere that we just need to reset the circuit by rebooting power. That seemed to have helped but after resetting the fan turns on and off but the motorized lid will not open and the manual knob is seized and cannot be opened. I will add that the last couple months the motorized opening mechanism has struggled to open the lid. It operated more slowly and sounded like it was laboring. I read that it could be a power supply issue on your site here, but since the fan turns on and off just fine it sounds like that might not be the issue especially since even manual operation of the lid does not work. What would you suggest? Thanks for your help.

If the lid no longer opens or closes even when using the manual knob then that means the operator mechanism is bad which is rather common to have to replace. The part you'll need for this is the Replacement Operator Mechanism for MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus or MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vents part # MA10-20281K-1AF. If the lid no longer opens with the controls then that could mean either a bad operator mechanism or a bad lift motor and in which case you'd need the 10-20270 part # MA10-20270. I don't think this issue is the lift motor but it's possible. If the motor no longer works even with a new operator then in that case you would need to replace this. Please note, the fan motor and lift motor are separate.
