Trailer Brake Controller For A 2013 Volswagen Touareg

Question:

I want to purchase the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite for our 2013 VW Touareg TDI with towing package. I saw the Curt custom wiring adapter. Does this eliminate the need to get additional wiring parts from Volkswagen?

With the plug and play harnesses available for most controllers for your 2013 Volkswagen Touareg The Red Arc Controller # RED24FR does not have a plug and play installation for your 2013 Volkswagen Touareg.

The Red Arc Controller uses the Harness # RED69FR which plugs into the back of the controller but comes with 4 additional wires that you will have to splice into your vehicle.

A way around the non plug and play method would be to splice the Redarc harness into a plug-in harness like The Curt Harness # C51522.

Since you already have the towing package I recommend The Curt Echo Under-Dash Wireless Brake Controller # C27JR and the harness # C51522. This controller has the hidden design like the Redarc Tow-Pro, and lets you monitor and control all your braking activity directly from your phone.

The manual override button # C83HR (sold separately) will allow you to use the manual override without using the app. The app must be open and running on your phone for the button to work.
