Why Is My ABS System Not Working After Installing The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty?

Question:

2022 Nisan Frontier with Factory tow connected with Nisan harness when auto light control is on the liberty faults, seems to operate fine with lights in the on switch position. Have had 2 instances that faulted vehicles ABS and collision detection dealer suspects the brake controller is the issue. Any other reports of an issue like this?

I spoke with Redarc about why the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR would be causing an issue with your ABS system on your 2022 Nissan Frontier, and they recommend that you check the TowPro supply fuse and voltage to ensure that:

The brake controller fuse in the fuse box is intact.

I don’t believe this to be a concern, however the TowPro supply voltage is from the same battery/voltage as the ABS module i.e. the brake controller isn’t being powered from an auxiliary battery.

You can also check if the high-mount stop-lamp fuse is blown or disconnected in some way, sometimes a vehicle loom depends on this to suppress leakage from a diode.

Continuing on, they also recommend that you check that the negative chassis grounds are also well secure.

Finally, with it being that it’s a new truck, they also recommend checking the trailer brake fuse in the fuse box, and is present and intact. Often manufacturers/dealers don’t place the fuse in the fuse slot from factory.
