Question:
1 What sealant should be used on the threaded toilet flange to black water connection? Is Rectorseal #5 OK? Thats what I have, but Ill buy whatever you say. 2 Does the flange need to be screwed onto the black tank fitting until it is tight on the fitting, or will sealant prevent leaks if the threaded connection is used to adjust the flange height to prevent distorting the top of the black water tank? Thanks

According to Valterra, you should use a non-hardening sealant safe for ABS plastic for the Replacement RV Toilet Floor Flange # T05-0784. So you would not want to use Rectorseal #5 because it is not supposed to be used on ABS. You will just want to pick up a non-hardening sealant safe for ABS plastic.
As far as installation is concerned, you will want to screw the Replacement RV Toilet Floor Flange # T05-0784 on until it is tight. I also recommend picking up the Valterra RV Toilet Floor Gasket with Hold Down Bolts # Q23653VP.
