Question:

Is it possible to only purchase the shackle straps rather than the entire kit? I was led to believe the 3 1/8inch kit is what I needed, but they are too big and I would like to replace them with the 2 1/4inch straps.

I do have a solution, but the heavy duty shackle straps that come with the # MR58ZR are not available without the rest of the kit. For equivalent shackles you can use the Replacement Shackle Strap for E-Z Flex Heavy Duty Rubber Suspension System by Dexter Axle # 018-024-01.

However, depending on the cost you may be better off purchasing an entirely new kit and not the individual shackles. It is also worth noting that the # MR58ZR is for trailers with Correct Track installed. If you do not have Correct Track you want the # MR46ZR instead.
