How is the winch installed for electric power - to the vehicle- batteries ?What is the source of electrical power? Thanks

An electric winch is typically powered by either a battery mounted on the trailer or the vehicle batteries. Electric winches will have power leads coming from the winch that will attach to the positive and negative posts on a 12 volt battery (see photo). The leads can be connected directly to a trailer mounted battery or you can use the Trailer and Vehicle Electric Winch Wiring Kit, # BDW20207, to use the vehicle batteries.
There are many different options to wire a winch. I have attached a diagram showing the two methods I described. I also attached a help article on how to wire an electric winch for you to check out.
