Question:
I installed a curt front receiver hitch on my 2015 ram 2500 for a winch. My winch mount is not long enough so in need an extension. Ok that I understand is going to reduce my tongue weight 50. What about straight pulling weight which is 9k for front curt receiver hitch? Would a solid shaft on the extender make a difference? If so do you sell one?

Expert Reply:
A 8" # 80307 or 14" # HE12 Hitch Extender will not lower the line pulling capacity for the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31015 on your 2015 Ram 2500. Instead you will be limited to the tow rating of the extender which is going to be 3,500lbs for the 8" and 7,000lbs for the 12". If you use the extenders for a hitch mounted accessory or with a trailer is the only time the maximum capacity will be reduced with an extender.
The Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-2 does have a 2" rise but it will have a tow rating of 10,000lbs. This is designed for flat towing which is effectively the same thing you are accomplishing with a winch in pulling capacity. It will extend your receiver 10".
