Where on Trailer A-Frame Would Lift Brackets of Curt C15070 MV Weight Distribution Hitch Install

Updated 04/27/2022 | Published 04/25/2022

Question:

Im looking at your Curt MV Weight Distribution System #C17050. Im wondering if theres a way to find out what the distance is from roughly the center of the Ball on the hitch head to the snap up bracket ideally. Thats obviously related to the length of the Spring Round Bars. Just want to make sure it will fit properly on my camping trailer. Also, what are the widths of the Snap-Up Brackets? I have attached a photo to help clarify the measurements I have to work with...

When installed so that the chains are perpendicular to the trailer frame, the lift brackets should be installed so they're centered right at 30 inches rearward from the trailer ball when the trailer's hitched up. The lift brackets are 4 inches wide (they take up 4 inches of space on the trailer A-frame), so the leading edge of the bracket would sit at about 28 inches rearward of the ball center and the trailing edge of the bracket would sit at about 32 inches rearward of the trailer ball center.

If you installed the hanger bracket as far to the rear as possible, so it's trailing edge sits at the 31-1/2 inch mark (as you show in your photo), the chain would attach at the 29-1/2 inch mark, which would be close enough to work just fine for you. I've ran this by my Curt representative, and he agrees.

I've linked to the installation/setup instructions for the Curt # C17050 MV Weight Distribution System. The system doesn't include the trailer ball, so you'd use # A-90 for a 2 inch or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch ball.
