Let's take a look today at our Blue Ox TrackPro weight distribution system with sway control. 11-hole shank, 6,000 pounds gross trailer weight rating or 600 pounds tongue weight rating. Now, if you are new to camping, trailering, whatnot, basically, your weight distribution system here is gonna ensure a level and stable ride. So it's gonna prevent sagging and that kinda stuff. It's gonna distribute the weight evenly over the axles of your tow vehicle and the camper, trailer, or whatnot.
It's gonna have a built-in sway control, like I mentioned, and that's gonna help eliminate those sudden bursts from like semis passing you, the wind that would maybe push you a little bit, those kinda things, maybe some potholes and stuff. That's gonna help keep you straight and keep you from swiveling or fishtailing back and forth. The head itself has a nice pitched design, and that's gonna help you, you know, have the right angle from the start when you're installing this. Some other brands out there, you gotta stack washers behind the head, you gotta keep getting your angle, you know, adjusted. With Blue Ox, you don't have to worry about that.
It's set up. It's already ready to go, and that makes it really easy to use and a lot faster to get installed. Now coming up here to the shank, it is made for a two-inch by two-inch hitch receiver tube. You wanna make sure that your hitch is rated for use with a weight distribution system. So check your manufacturer of the hitch.
Make sure that it's rated for that. Possibly, your manufacturer's sticker on your hitch might give you that information, but it's not always there. It does come with the hitch pin and clip. It has a max drop of three inches. And if you flip the shank over and remount the head to that in that position, you can have a rise of up to 17 inches.
This particular ball's a 2 5/16-inch ball. Now I wanna grab one of these L-brackets here and mounting brackets and show you this up close while I got the frame here. So your frame's gonna mount in here up to six inches tall trailer frames. It's got the built-in L-bracket, and it's got the spring retaining clip here. So your spring wire would go in there. This will keep it from popping out. Now, while I'm up here, I also wanna point out it does have a built-in grease zerk on the head of the trunnion bars themselves. That's gonna help the pivoting and everything that you need, keep it free, and just give you a nice smoother ride, smooth transition as it's doing the weight distributing. It is a no-drill, clamp-on style, like I mentioned a few minutes ago. You don't have to worry about drilling into your trailer frame. It's gonna accommodate with things, such as like your gas tank, battery boxes, toolboxes, generators. This should pretty much mount in a way that you don't have to worry about those getting in the way. From the top of the ball back to where this bracket's gonna mount on your frame, this unit is set up to be between 20 to 25 inches back from the center of this ball. Please keep it in that safe range. Don't try to smudge it and go a little shallower or a little deeper on the frame. Keep it within that 20 to 25 inches. That's for your safety, and that's for what this system is designed for to use safely. It is gonna come with a spring bar tool, the manufacturer instructions, and a couple of D-rings or chain links. That way, you can put your safety chains on. Now, the spring bar tool, as you can see, has the groove and the hook in here. You'd simply put it underneath your bar, and you'd use it as a pivot point and pivot it up onto your L-brackets to put it in place. (tool thumping) Now, what I found to do when doing that is, you got your trailer or camper mounted on your ball. Keep some of that tension on your jack. That way, it's less spring tension that you're fighting. 'Cause remember, these are rated particularly up to 600 pounds on this unit. So you don't wanna be pushing a full 600 pounds if you don't have to. So use that jack to help you out a little bit. That's a nice little trick of the trade there. First my truck and trailer sit and travel LEVEL, and I am pleased with the hitch after loosing one of the original “pins” while traveling(these are the pins that keep the sway bars on L brackets). I ordered the replacement “Pins” Now after a couple thousand miles, I do like how stable the truck and trailer are when other vehicles pass, the side push pull is much less. If the hitch came with the replacement “Pins” this would be a 5 Star Review.
I used this twice and then purchased another brand, it did not fit my rig properly. In order to put the arms on the brackets (that are on the trailer) I had to raise the rear of the truck very high. Not fun or safe.

I received my purchase and unfortunately it was missing half the contents. I have purchased before without issues. This may just be an isolated issue. Will say customer service is great and they promptly sent me return label to return the hitch.

Easy to install haven’t driven the truck yet, but it seems to be doing exactly what it needs too.
Trailer hooked up with the blue ox the rear of the truck sits 4” higher than without. The nose drops about 3/4” compared to no blue ox. Massive difference in the right direction.
The photos are a 2021 4Runner no extra load in the back. Trailers 17’ ~3,500lbs max. I believe about a 350lb tongue weight and was mostly un-loaded.
Hello, The weight distribution seems to work fine. We took our traveler trailer on 2 trips since purchasing the trailer hitch and all the accessories. The sway is just frightening. We have not had any real wind, this was in May and July of this year. But super scary, and when a tractor trailer passes us, even just one, forget it. We are towing with a big Ford Expition also. I would not recommend this model. It was expensive and we will have to figure out what we are going to replace it with. Gil
This tows very well. However the hitch head is very heavy, and the brackets on the trailer tongue for the spring bars loosen up regardless of bolt torque.
Works well. It's my first time with a distribution hitch, so I've no basis for comparison. I tow a 7200# 30' trailer with a 2007 F-150 (full-timer). It took a few trips to the scales to get things right, since I'm very close to my weight limits. Product arrived without the receiver (damaged box). Etrailer was very quick to provide replacement.
On assembly, I discovered that it was sent with incorrect mounting plates. Blue Ox expedited a parts kit. Overall, it seems to work well. I still have to be careful with wind, or I get pushed around on the road. It's mostly a non-issue.
I've traveled about 5-6K miles, and there is some noticeable wear, scoring, and rust developing where the torsion bars meet the trailer. These parts should be easily replaceable, as long as they're still manufactured. You may want to consider spares once you confirm that you have the correct bars. The friction points can develop metal splinters.
The pivots started showing wear after a long stretch of bouncy highway in Iowa. It was within the 1st 1000 miles, so I'll count this as break-in. I just readjusted the mounting point on the trailer at an overnight stop. I haven't had to adjust it since. The slop in the bushings makes for a greasy mess.
Wear gloves and put a plastic bag over the receiver when you remove it, or you're going to get greasy. Also, be careful of how low the receiver hangs down. I've caught it twice in uneven parking lots. I'm leaving it long, since it helps protect the tongue jack.
It meets expectation. Etrailer and Blue Ox provided excellent customer service. I still took one star, since I was on a deadline with work, and my plans got pushed back two weeks because of this. It shouldn't have happened in the first place, but the customer service from both parties was fantastic.

Wow can’t believe this company would mail out a product sold as new in this condition.
Bought this to reduce rear sag in truck and you would think installing is pretty common sense but apparently it isn't. Instructions aren't very clear and since sad didn't go away at all, I'm guessing it isn't installed correctly. Instructions need to be MORE clear than they are otherwise you'll need to pay a professional to install it as I have no idea if it's correct or not.
This thing is amazing! I bought this to haul my 24’ car (toy) hauler behind my 03 Suburban which has coil springs instead of leaf springs. This hitch has made a world of difference. I honestly was shocked at the difference it made. It almost feels like I’m not hauling a trailer at all.
Love this hitch system. I was hesitant to spend the money but I am so glad that I did. I have had the system for about a year now and it has impressed me every time I use it. I recently put a 3.5” lift kit on my truck and with the easy adjustments on the hitch system, I was able to accommodate for the lift in about 20 minutes. Would recommend
I bought this in April '22 for our new trailer. The second day of our trip to Alaska, one of the Retaining Keys with the cotter pin fell off. It was while hooking up to our campsite that we saw it was gone and the spring bar bar had been free of mooring. Luckily we had a C Bolt and duck tape to hold the one sway bar without the retaining key and taped up the other to make sure it didn't fall off on the rest of our journey. When we called Blue Ox they sent two day to AK the two packages of the retaining key w/step. These turned out different than the ones that came on the TracPro and are thicker and shorter - I think these were suppose to come with the TracPro WD/Sway and should have been in the package when we got it. There is too much play between the sring bar and the L Bracket with the Retaining key that was in our order. Pictures for reference. If you order the Blue Ox TracPro, call make and sure you get the correct Retaining Keys with it, you should not have to buy them separately.
Received my weight distribution hitch with two days of placing my order. The hitch works well for my set up and installation was easy. My truck hitch weight is 600lbs. and max tow weight is 6000lbs. My 22ft. long RV trailer max capacity loaded is about 20% less than my trucks specs. Etrailer sells quality accessories. Their prices are good, and their experience, knowledge and customer service are the best. It would be hard to find a better dealer that could provide better service with very fast shipping.
It was installed professionally by camping world. Coating is all coming off. Arms pop out during travel. The square pins fall though slots. The angled brackets that mount to camper chassis are failing. Its the worst hitch I have ever owned. Literally.

I bought the 10K to replace a worn out 12K Equalizer hitch. Does the same job as my previous hitch and is lighter in weight. That helps me out since I remove it from my truck when not in use and I'm not getting any younger :)
Rock Solid towing! 15 year old truck with original suspension - just look at that alignment. Towed all along the Columbia River Gorge on a windy day and stayed in my lane the whole way.
My only gripe with etrailer is shipping quality. This is a heavy item, well constructed, heavy duty, not lightweight. To ship this in a standard cardboard box without reinforcement is nuts. When delivered by UPS this box had gapping holes and part of the contents were protruding outside the shipping box. My UPS driver stated that such heavy items should be attached to a wood skeleton inside the box to keep from moving around during shipment. To my amazement all the parts were present, albeit banged up a bit with paint damage and gouging. So be aware that you may find your order in similar condition. etrailer responds to me with yada yada. Not real happy with this one but the unit itself is quite robust although a little black enamel will be required.
