Can 2-5/16 Hitch Ball be Used With Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution BLU36FR

Question:
My tow vehicle is a 2020 Nissan Pathfinder AWD. I will be pulling a TT with a dry weight rating of 3400 lbs and GVWR of 4500 which I will never reach. Tongue weight loaded will be around 450 lbs. My trailer requires a 2-5/16 inch ball. I like the Blue ox trackpro brands. The smaller trackpro only comes with the 2 inch ball. I was wondering if this BLU47FR model would be good for my situation, or if it is rated too high for my application? Thanks in advance for your help. You have the most helpful site I have ever seen!

Well thanks so much for those kind words, and we can help you out here. Since you have a 450 lb loaded tongue weight, the Blue Ox TrackPro # BLU47FR would indeed be rated too highly, but you can actually just substitute a 2-5/16" hitch ball for the 2" hitch ball that comes with the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution # BLU36FR.
TheTrackPro # BLU36FR is rated properly for your tongue weight, and all you'd nee to do is replace its 2" hitch ball with one that has a 1-1/4" diameter shank, the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # EQ91-00-6120.
