Question:

I am debating whether I go with the 2inch Shank version C83WR with 6 inches of drop or the 2.5inch shank version C57UR with 8 inches of drop. I will be driving a 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD at stock height towing trailers up to approx 13,000 lbs. What is deterring me from the larger one is the 8 inches of which is far more than I will need and worried about it possibly bottoming out, and just overall being a larger hitch than what is needed. Would you advise going with the 2inch shank and a sleeve, or the larger 2.5inch shank? I have always used BandW Tow and Stow hitches, but am interested in trying a cushioned hitch. What are your thoughts/preferences between the two brands/styles?

I would be happy to help you. If you are not going to be utilizing the capacity and are concerned about bottoming out because of the drop you do not need I recommend the Curt Rebellion XD Shock Absorbing Adjustable Ball Mount w/ 2" and 2-5/16" Balls - 15K item # C83WR over the item # C57UR. The shock-absorbing cushioned isolator helps with bumps, vibrations, and chucking you get from hauling a trailer. Unlike other shock-absorbing systems, which use air bags that require constant monitoring or bearings that are subject to excessive wear, the Rebellion XD is nearly maintenance-free. The built-in grease zerk lets you easily lubricate the internal isolator core.

The B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount item # BWTS10037B is an extremely popular and great ball mount but it does nothing to cushion your trailer when it pulls or hits a bump.

For your 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 you will want to use the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve - 2-1/2" to 2" item # C45405. This is the same adapter that Chevy offers on their website for their factory hitch receivers. Ours is less expensive and is an identical product.

To keep your Curt Rebellion from walking away I recommend the InfiniteRule Lock Set for Curt Rebellion XD Ball Mount - 2" and 2-1/2" - Stainless - Qty 3 item # IR47FR. The keyed alike hitch locks secures the ball mount to your receiver hitch and also locks up the adjustable coupler.
