Solution to Remove Movement between Ball Mount and Trailer Hitch

Question:

We have recently traded in our suv fora 2022 Ford Expedition towing a 2021 Airstream Basecamp 3500 GVW. We have a Curt 4” solid tow hitch bar. This is not exact, The actual difference in top of receiver to tow trailer is 5”. On our previous Vw Touareg all worked well with same bar flipped with an exact 2” rise. We now notice there is some play in the 2” receiver which in turn causes a lot of noise from the tow bar and I suspect more jarring. I am looking for solutions to quiet the ride. Also should I find something closer to a 5” rather than the 4”? Would the Curt rebellion XD be overkill? What else should we consider?

The Curt Rebellion XC cushioned ball mount part # C83WR would cushion the ride quality and reduce the movement you are experiencing but an easier and most cost effective solution would be an anti-rattle device like the etrailer # e99007 which will lock the ball mount to the hitch tube and totally remove the play and movement.
