Compare SumoSprings SS85FR vs SSR-212-40 for 2016 Chevy Colorado Diesel

Question:
Whats the difference between the two kits besides the cost? They are from the same manufacturer and both carry a 1,000 rating though the SSR-212-40 is a darker color and the SumoSprings website video says the color impacts the density and compression? My truck is softly sprung from the factory which aids greatly in the unloaded, day-to-day ride quality and handling. However, when I attach my fully loaded utility trailer with a 3,000 lb. rating or my 20foot center console boat, the rear sags and the truck wallows a bit plus the ride quality deteriorates...so this solution seems to be exactly what I need. To be clear my 2016 Colorado is a diesel which the SS85FR specifically calls out as a fitment whereas the fitment guide for the SSR-212-40 just says it fits all models and does not specifically call out the diesel application.

I can definitely shed some light on the confusion. While the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SS85FR and the # SSR-212-40 seem to be exactly identical other than the color, they actually have different-shaped mounting brackets on them to fit different submodels of 2016 Chevy Colorado. I went ahead and attached photos that show this difference.
With that being said, you are absolutely correct that the # SS85FR is customized for diesel models. However, the # SSR-212-40 is only designed to fit non-diesel models. The two kits are not interchangeable. I went ahead and attached screenshots that shows where this is listed on the fitguide listing page for your vehicle's suspension enhancement options.
For the part you need, # SS85FR comes with the correct mounting brackets for your diesel Colorado. These SumoSprings provide you the extra 1,000 pounds of load-leveling capacity you need at the rear of your truck when towing your 3,000 pound utility trailer or 20-foot console boat.
