Question:

I have an LCI Lippert 3,500LB Straight Idler Trailer Axle 74HF 60SC. Can you put together a complete brake kit for this? I prefer electric, please.

The LCI Lippert 3,500LB Straight Idler Trailer Axle 74HF 60SC does not have a brake flange to attach a brake to. Your axle must have a brake flange, like the Redline Brake Mounting Flange for 2-3/8" Round Axle item # 4-35, welded on by a professional to attach brakes. A professional welder has to to install this flange to ensure alignment or your trailer's wheels won't be straight.

You would then be able to mount the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs item # AKEBRK-35-SA to your trailer's axle. These self-adjusting driver's-side and passenger's-side electric brakes are 10" x 2-1/4" and fit 13" to 15" wheels. The brake pads are made of friction material for improved braking and longevity. The E-coated backing plates resist rust.

You will need a a set of drums too. I recommend the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 - Pre-Greased item # AKHD-545-35-K. This hub is compatible with electric brakes and fits a 3,500 lbs axle. It fits on spindles that take a inner bearing of item # L68149 and race and outer bearing item # L44649 and race. The grease seal, grease cap, and lug nuts are included. This hub is sold individually. You will want to use a digital caliper like the Performance Tool Item # PTW80157 to measure your spindle. I have linked a diagram below of what measurements you will need to find to make sure this drums fit your trailer. You can also look at the bearings currently on your trailer. They should have numbers stamped onto the side that will tell you what size hub you will need. If you have any questions once you get the hubs off email me back and I will be happy to help you.

To control your trailer's brakes and lights you will need the Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box and RV Style Connector item # HS381-9000. This kit includes a junction box so you can quickly and easily connect the wires from the included trailer connector to your trailer's wiring. This allows you to secure your trailer's wiring in a convenient location safe from the elements.

To wire up your new brakes you will want to use the Jacketed 2 Wire (Brake Wire) - 12 Gauge - per Foot item # 12-2-1.
