trailer brake unit for 2022 Kia Telluride, what would I need to install a brake controller?

If you do not have a 7-way connection on your 2022 Kia Telluride you will need to start by adding wiring. The first thing you will need to add is a 4-way wiring harness which is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # CU94FR. This will plug into the connection point in the rear cargo area and provide you with a 4-way to power your trailer's signal lights.
Once this is installed you will be able to add the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation # ETBC7L. This kit comes with the adapter, wiring, and everything else you need to upgrade to a 7-way. This will allow you to use your brake controller and power your trailer brakes.
Once you have a 7-way, or if you already have a 7-way, you can use a brake controller like the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Proportional # C51180 you were looking at. This controller is easy to install since it plugs in-line with your 7-way connection at the back of your vehicle. It is controlled via the app, which allows you to adjust the braking power and also acts as the manual override. If you like the idea of having a physical button for the manual override the # C83HR is also available.
If you would prefer a more traditional brake controller in the cab of your vehicle, I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller - Proportional # RED24FR. The main unit for this brake controller mounts out of sight with only the control knob visible on your dash. You would need the # RED69FR for installation as well. It is also worth noting that you will need to run an additional wire for a brake controller in the cab of your vehicle which will require the # ETBC7 instead of the # ETBC7L.
I have attached some review and installation videos for your reference.
