Does the Heat Shield Get Reinstalled On 2020 Volvo XC90 with Curt Hitch
Updated 02/09/2022 | Published 02/08/2022 >
Question:
I have a 2020 Volvo XC90 and just had the C13233 hitch installed. They said when trimming the heat shield it could no longer be supported and would potentially make noise so they completely removed it. Is it OK to not have the heat shield on this vehicle?

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13233 which is a fit for a 2020 Volvo XC90 does require trimming of the heat shield but it should be reinstalled after this is done per the instructions. The trimming of the heat shield does not take away any attachment holes so it will reinstall without issue or lacking support. I have attached the required trimming below. It's only small portion of the shield.
