Question:

What would I need to wire a ford aerostar for a 5 round pole, or would it be possible to wire for 4 flat and get an adapter for a 4 flat going to a 5 round?

There is no adapter to go from a 4-Way flat to a 5-Way round connector so you have a couple of options. What I would do is to install a 4-Way flat using # 119178KIT. Then use a 4 to 5-Way flat adapter, # 20036. The extra wire on the adapter, normally for an electric reverse lockout on a trailer, connects to the reverse light circuit on the vehicle or to whatever function the 5th pin is for on the trailer side 5-Way.

Then I would remove the 5-Way round connector on the trailer and replace it with a 5-Way flat, # HM47910. 4 and 5-Way flat connectors are much more common than a 5-Way round connector so replacing the trailer side connector is a good idea.
