Replacement Idler Hub and Hub Drum for 2,000 lb Trailer Axle

Updated 08/05/2025 | Published 01/21/2022

Question:

Thank you Jon, is there an option with breaks as well? Both axles have extricate breaks, just looking to upgrade one axle with breaks. Thanks

You likely have an axle rated for 2,000 lbs so you can to upgrade to a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern if you swap out your hub for Idler Hub # AKIHUB-545-2-EZ-1K which uses # L44643 inner and outer bearings as well as a grease seal with a 1.249" inner diameter, or Idler Hub # AKIHUB-545-2-LFEZ-2K which uses # L44649 inner and outer bearings as well as a grease seal with a 1.50" inner diameter

If you have something different just let me know what you find and I'll help you choose the correct kit. Also let me know what size tire you currently have as well as what you're looking to upgrade to and I'll be more than happy to make a recommendation for you!

There sure are! For that L44643 bearing set you can use the Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K. For the L44649 bearing set you can use the Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K. If you were also needing to replace the electric brakes then we have that as well with the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-2.

I am looking for a 5 on 4 1/2" bolt pattern 2000# straight spindel hub but it needs to be for a short spindel. Do you carry these?

@John If you're talking about like an old school spindle, then I don't think we have any that would work. What is the overall length of your current hub?
