Trouble Mounting Curt Hitch # C11405 on My 2015 Ford Mustang
Published 01/14/2022 >
Question:
Hi, I need some installation assistance with my new Curt trailer hitch for my 15 mustang. I have 6 of the 8 mounting bolts and attaching nuts installed but I cant get the last 2 assembled. These 2 are on the outboard side of the mounting flange at the forward end of the hitch towards the front of the car. I need to slide the entire hitch forward towards the front of the car about 1/4 but I cant get the hitch to budge. One of the fish wires attached to one of the mounting bolts I dont have assembled is pinched between the hitch mounting flange and the channel in the car body that the hitch mounts to. Any suggestions please?

I'm sorry to hear about your hitch! I looked up your recent order with us and it looks like you have the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11405 for your 2015 Ford Mustang. One of the common occurrence we find when neighbors have trouble with hitch fitment is flexing of the hitch during shipment. I went ahead and attached a FAQ article that discusses the different routes of solving this issue.
If you find that flexing is not the issue, I recommend re-installing the hitch a second time beginning with the front two mounting bolts. This could also help solve the fitment issue.
