Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and Wiring for 2022 Toyota Highlander XSE Without Tow Package

I would like to add a hitch and wiring to my 2022 Highlander XSE. I do not have the tow package. Would you please let me know what a good option is? I appreciate the help and input you give me. Thanks.

For a hitch for your 2022 Toyota Highlander XSE I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e75ZR. This Class III hitch is a custom fit part and comes with a 2" receiver. It also has a concealed cross tube to help maintain a factory look. The hitch has a max gross trailer weight of 5,000 lbs and tongue weight of 500 lbs. It also uses a matte black powder coat finish giving it a more rugged look. This also does a better job of hiding scratches and dirt when compared to other hitches with a glossy finish.
For wiring, I recommend the Tekonsha # TK99FR. This wiring harness uses a T-One connector to plug into existing wiring so no cutting or splicing is necessary. This will provide you with a 4-way connection for your trailer's signal lights. When it comes to wiring we have found Tekonsha to be the most reliable.
If you need a ball mount as well, I like the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit has two ball mounts, one with a 3/4" rise or 2" drop and the other with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop. It also comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball, as well as a ball mount bag to store everything in.
