I checked the owner's manual for your 2021 GMC Yukon XL, and yes, it is perfectly fine to flat tow. That being said, you are going to need these components:
- A base plate
- Tow bars
- Braking system
- Tow bar wiring
- High-Low adapter
For a base plate, we carry the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BLU58FR. This base plate kit is specifically made to be used on your AT4 model of your GMC Yukon XL and will work great for you.
The next thing you'll need is a tow bar. Since your Yukon XL is fairly heavy, I recommend a more heavier duty bar like the Blue Ox Avail Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX7420. These tow bars are American made, and is capable of handling up t 10,000lbs, which should be plenty of capacity to handle your Yukon XL.
Next, is a braking system. We have a lot of options that are great, however, the Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524 is my choice. This is an easy to use, simply installed, non-permanent braking system; that is lightweight, and easily transferrable to other vehicles if desired.
To continue, we'll move to the tow bar wiring. The Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-98146-7. The wiring is needed to allow you to connect your RV's taillights, brake lights, and turn signals to your toad vehicle.
Finally, you may need a high-low adapter like # RM-048-4 due to your motorhome sitting higher than your toad vehicle. You'll want to check out the FAQ I have attached, and measure for your rise/drop on your Yukon XL to see if you need an adapter, or, if you do, what you need.
