Question:

I have a 2016 Toyota Sienna XLE. I am planning to buy hitch 76112. I also need wiring and brake controller and I could use some help picking out the right things. I already own Curt 56261 custom wiring harness 4-pin which I may or may not use depending on your solution. For the controller I want it to be hidden and only have a knob exposed in one of the available button/switch slots on the dash so it looks nice and built-in. unless that is just a bad choice. I am new to this, so I appreciate your advice.

We can get your 2016 Toyota Sienna XLE set up with what you need for the hitch, wiring, and brake controller. It can definitely be a bit overwhelming so it's a good idea just to verify, and you made a really nice choice with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76112.

This has a concealed design so it looks nice and also sits up higher for better ground clearance. As for the wiring, you are off to a good start with the 4-way that you have, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56261. This is the first thing you will need, in order to power your trailer's lighting functions. It will plug directly into the 7-way, which you'll get with the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7.

The # ETBC7 will also give you the rest of the wiring needed to install a brake controller with a hidden knob in your Sienna. For that I recommend going with an option from Redarc, and you will also need a wiring harness to complete the install:

- Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR

- Universal Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers # RED69FR

The Liberty will give you a lot of control over your braking power with its knob, which allows you to hide the main control unit. The knob can be placed wherever you have space in your Sienna, and while there isn't a custom mounting panel for the knob in your Sienna, there is the Universal Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob # 331-TPSI-001.
