Recommended Hitch And Wiring For Pulling A Pop Up Camper With A 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Published 12/08/2021

Question:

I need to get a hitch and some wiring for my 2022 Hyundai Palisade. I have a small pop up camper and want to get everything ready for the spring and summer season. The camper is on the small side so it doesn't have brakes or anything like that. What do you recommend?

As your 2022 Hyundai Palisade is rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds and has a tongue weight capacity of 750 pounds, I recommend going with the etrailer.com # e95ZR. This matches your towing and tongue weight capacity exactly and will be a perfect fit your your vehicle. Being American made and a hidden option with only the receiver tube being visible once installed is just icing on the cake.

For the wiring, I recommend going with the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # CU94FR. This is a plug and play wiring harness that will take little to no time to get installed and up and running.

The only other things you will need are a ball mount, ball, and a pin and clip to hold them in place. If you do not already have them of course. If you do not, you will need to measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler on your camper on as level a surface as possible. You will then compare this to the 13-1/2" height of the # e95ZR hitch (measured from the ground to the inside top of the receiver opening). The typical trailer will sit at 17 to 18" as an example, so the Draw-Tite Ball Mount # 40346 with 4-3/4" of rise would be a perfect fit. You do have +/- 1-1/2" of play to still be level, so you do have a little wiggle room. From here, you will either need a 2" ball ( # 63845) or a 1-7/8" ball ( # 19260) depending on the coupler on the camper again, and the # PC3 pin and clip. This will complete the set up and you are good to go.
