Question:
I’m looking at the red arc brake controller for my 21 Subaru ascent RED44FR, do I need a wiring harness adapter for this, and is there a specific dash mount plate for this vehicle? Thx

The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR can definitely be installed on your 2021 Subaru Ascent, but how it hooks up to your vehicle will depend on how it came wired from the manufacturer.
If you have the factory tow package, the install will be quick and easy. The Tekonsha Harness # 3062-P will allow you to plug directly into a port under the dash, and the # 331-TPH-017 will then adapt that harness to attach directly to the # RED44FR controller. There is not currently a dash mount plate for your vehicle, but if you do not have the 7 Way on the back of your Ascent, we do have the Tekonsha # 118290. This is a plug and play harness for vehicles with the tow package and will also make for a quick and easy install.
On the other hand, if your 2021 Ascent did not come with the factory tow package, the install will be a bit more involved. To start with, you will need a 4 Flat harness. The Tekonsha # 118790 will be a plug and play option and is highly recommended. Our Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 will then piggyback off this and will include all the wiring, circuit breakers, 7 Way plug, and all bracketry needed to get the # RED44FR up and running.
Though this install is more involved, it isn't overly difficult. Especially if you have done something like this before. I did include some install videos on other vehicles for you to check out, but it will be much the same when hooking up your 2021 Ascent.
