For your 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid we have the etrailer hitch part # e89YR as a confirmed fit which is a really great option. It's mostly hidden and has great towing capacities as well. Only the hitch opening hangs below the rear bumper which allows it to be mostly hidden and this also helps with ground clearance.

If you need trailer wiring too the Tekonsha kit part # TE54FR is an easy fit and has a very reliable converter box.
