I want the best trailer brake controller for my 2022 Chevy traverse. I do not have a trailer connector installed yet but picked a hitch already.

For your 2022 Chevy Traverse the best trailer brake controller is going to be the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR due to how low profile it is once installed making it look like a factory option. This proportional controller can control up to two braking axles (four brake assemblies), and allows you to easily change modes or braking intensity with the intuitive control knob.

Since your Traverse does not have a trailer connector you will need to go ahead and install one. First you will need to install a 4-way connector # 118761, then install a 7-way connector using the # ETBC7. This 7-way will require you to run the blue wire to where you will be installing the controller, ground the white wire to the frame of your vehicle, and run the black wire to the positive terminal of your battery with the included 40-amp circuit breaker.

To get the # RED24FR installed in your vehicle you will also need the universal wiring harness # RED69FR and will make the following connections:

Red wire to the cold side of stop light switch that only has power when brake pedal is pressed. Using a circuit tester # PTW2993 will help you find the correct wire.

Blue wire to the blue wire run from the # ETBC7.

Black wire to the positive terminal of your battery with the 30-amp circuit breaker and wiring from the # ETBC7.

White wire to ground.
