Question:

Can you recommend a Brake Controller for 2019 Honda Odyssey? We just bought our first travel trailer and are having to add a tow hitch and brake controller. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as this is all new to us.

Congratulations on getting your first travel trailer!

The brake controller I recommend for your 2019 Honda Odyssey is the Curt Echo Wireless # C51180 due to it being very easy to install, and it not requiring you to run any wires or drill any holes inside of your vehicle.

To power this controller we designed the # ETBC7L which requires you to have a 4-way connector already installed. If you do not already have one I recommend adding the # 118781 which plugs into the factory connector in the rear cargo area of your vehicle. With that installed the # ETBC7L will plug in and only require two more connections. The white wire will get grounded to the frame, and the black wire will get run to the positive terminal of your battery with the included 40 amp circuit breaker.

Now depending on which trailer hitch receiver you decide on you may need a no drill mounting bracket such as the # 18140 to allow you to mount the 7-way connector to your hitch.

If you have not already decided on a hitch I recommend going with the Curt # C64NR due to it having a hidden crosstube meaning once installed the only part of the hitch that will be visible is the receiver as shown in the included picture. This hitch has a 525lb tongue weight rating and 3500lb trailer weight rating making it a perfect option for towing a travel trailer.

Lastly to complete your towing setup you will also need a ball mount, but the correct one will be dependent on the coupler height of your trailer compared to the hitch height of the trailer hitch so I have included a link to a helpful article that goes over measuring for the correct ball mount and a link to our selection of ball mounts for you to take a look at.
