Question:
Hi, I need to communicate with a flat tow expert. I have a 10+ year old Blue Ox Aventa with the ball which probably has 30,000 miles on it and no problems. Do I need to replace it due to age? I tend to like the Blue Ox Avail vs. the similar Roadmaster offering as the Blue Ox is all steel vs. aluminum components and the load rating. The thing that concerns me a bit is the Blue Ox 3 year warranty vs. Roadmaster Limited Lifetime warranty. Is my concern justified or is it just in the fine print? Lastly, I need to update my tow brake as I was burglarized and they took my Patriot remote. Is the Patriot a good toad brake? Thanks in advance

The Blue Ox has a life expectancy of 8-10 years, Blue Ox does recommend replacing it at this point.
There are a few big differences between the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar w/ LED Lights - RV Mount - 8K # RM-676 and the Blue Ox Avail Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 10,000 lbs # BX7420. As you said, the Blue Ox is made of steel and the Roadmaster is made of aluminum. The Blue Ox has a weight capacity of 10,000 lbs, while the Roadmaster is 8,000 lbs.
I recommend the Roadmaster Nighthawk, because it is made of aluminum and less prone to rust. The Nighthawk also has the lifetime warranty that is something definitely to consider.
If you decide to go with the Nighthawk we have the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates - RV Mount - 8K # RM-677 that includes the adapters for the Blue Ox base plates.
The Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional # BLU37TR is a very good portable braking system. I recommend this braking system because it is portable and easily transfers from vehicle to vehicle.
