Question:

I am looking to replace an older Blue Ox Aventa tow bar with the ball. Could you tell me what the Blackhawk comes with and its weight? I will be towing a 2016 Cadillac SRX and would appreciate a comparison and recommendation between the Blackhawk 2 and the Nighthawk. Thank you in advance

The Roadmaster Blackhawk 2 # RM-422 comes with just the tow bar, although one feature it does have is cable guides to protect your safety cables and wiring. The Blackhawk 2 has a shipping weight of 64 lbs, so its weight will pretty close to that.

The comparison between the Blackhack 2 and the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain # RM-677 is the Blackhawk 2 has a weight capacity of 10,000 lbs, the Nighthawk 8,000 lbs: the Blackhawk 2 is made of steel and the Nighthawk is made of aluminum. The Nighthawk comes with the adapter to fit your Blue Ox base plate, with the Blackhawk 2 that is sold separately; The safety cables and wiring are included with the Nighthawk but are sold separately with the Blackhawk 2. The Nighthawk also has LED lights along the tow bar that come on when you plug in your wiring, the Blackhawk does not have this lighting.

Both of these tow bars are non-binding and have telescoping arms.

I recommend the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain # RM-677 over the Roadmaster Blackhawk 2 # RM-422 because the Nighthawk is made of aluminum, that makes it less prone to rust. Also, your 2016 Cadillac SRX weighs under 4500 lbs, so the Nighthawk will have more than enough weight capacity. Finally, the Nighthawk has the safety cables and wiring, as well as the adapter to your Blue Ox base plate included in its package. Those items will all be sold separately with the Blackhawk 2.
