5th Wheel Hitch Compatible With Curt Gooseneck in 2020 GMC Sierra 3500

I just bought a 2020 GMC 3500 with an 8 ft bed that has the #60642 hitch. I have a B&W companion fifth wheel hitch that I used with my previous truck. What are my options for installing a fifth wheel hitch? I was hoping to just remove this hitch and install a B&W turnover ball, but it looks like they locate the ball about 3 inches farther back in the bed than the Curt hitch.

There is one option for you to add a 5th wheel hitch to your 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 that already has the Curt Custom Underbed OEM-Style Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # C60642 installed. The best option for this is a hitch from Demco that will actually attach directly to the gooseneck ball:
- Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # DM8550045
The Recon has "adapter" in the title, and while that is technically true, it is truly just a 5th wheel hitch that mounts to your gooseneck ball. Otherwise, it has the same function as a standard 5th wheel hitch, with a superb single-piece jaw that wraps totally around the king pin, with the jaw being reinforced via a 3/4" solid steel bar that locks into place once the jaw is closed to minimize any play between the hitch and king pin.
I also like the Recon # DM8550045 because it is convenient and simple to install due to the fact it comes in two lightweight pieces. This means you can easily put the hitch in and then remove it when you aren't towing for a clean, open truck bed.
