Highlights

  • Use Your Existing Gooseneck Setup: Mounts to a 2-5/16" gooseneck ball, so you can tow a 5th wheel without changing your truck setup.
  • Keep the Connection Tight at the Kingpin: Wraparound jaw and locking bar fully surround the kingpin to cut down on movement at the hitch.
  • Reduce Binding at the Hitch: Head pivots front-to-back and side-to-side so the truck and trailer can move separately.
  • Adjust Trailer Height at the Hitch: Base offers three height settings to help level the trailer to the truck.
  • Break It Down for Removal: Three-piece design separates into smaller sections when not in use.
  • Add In-Bed Storage with MOLLE Panel: Compatible with Demco MOLLE panels for storage at the front of your truck bed.

Features to know about

Turn Your Gooseneck Ball into a 5th Wheel Connection

Demco Recon Stealth 5th Wheel in Truck Bed

This Demco Recon Stealth mounts to a 2-5/16" gooseneck ball and gives you a 5th wheel connection at the kingpin. That lets you tow a 5th wheel trailer without adding bed rails or changing over to a traditional in-bed 5th wheel hitch. If your truck already has a compatible gooseneck setup, this gives you a way to tow a different trailer style using the hardware that is already there.

Wraparound Jaw Keeps the Kingpin Locked In

Demco Recon Stealth Wrap Around Jaws

Gooseneck adapters can leave space around the kingpin, and that movement shows up when you stop, start, or turn. This hitch uses a wraparound jaw and locking bar that fully surround the kingpin, so the connection stays tighter at the hitch head. The head also pivots front-to-back and side-to-side so it can stay aligned as the truck and trailer move through uneven ground and turns.

Breaks Down Into Three Sections for Storage

Demco Recon Stealth Broken Down

Once towing is done, this hitch separates into three sections instead of coming out as one full assembly. That makes each section easier to lift on its own when you need the bed back. If you add a compatible Demco MOLLE panel kit, the disassembled sections can be strapped at the front of the bed instead of left loose on the floor or set aside in the garage.

See what our Experts say about this Demco 5th Wheel Gooseneck Adapter

  • Is New Demco Recon Stealth Adapter Lighter Than A Standard 5th Wheel Hitch? Is It A One Man Job?
Hey Greg, the Demco Recon Stealth is definitely more manageable than a traditional one-piece 5th wheel hitch. It is a one person job for sure. Whether you’re looking at # DM63UV or one of the truck-specific kits like # DM54QJ (Ford), # DM82SJ (Chevy), or # DM22SJ (RAM), the hitch breaks down into three separate pieces instead of coming out as one big assembly. That makes it much easier for one person to handle piece by piece. If you have one of the vehicles that the kits fit, I'd grab...

  • Does Demco Recon Stealth Gooseneck To 5th Wheel Hitch Adapter Provide Extra Height?
Good morning Stephanie, the Demco Recon Stealth adapters do give you some built-in height adjustment, and typically it offers more height than some other fifth wheel hitthes. The Demco Recon Stealth models like the universal # DM63UV and the vehicle specific kits like # DM54QJ, # DM82SJ, and # DM22SJ have three height settings: 16-3/4" 18" 19-1/4" That gives you some room to fine-tune the hitch height and help level your trailer instead of being locked into one position. They’re also...

  • How Much Does The Demco Recon Stealth Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch DM63UV Weigh?
Hi Bill! The Demco Recon Stealth Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - 20,000 lbs # DM63UV weighs 140 pounds all together. I have the base and head broken down with their weights below: Demco Base Assembly for Recon Stealth Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Adapter - 21K # DM28UV - 100 pounds Demco Head for Stationary Demco 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 31K # DM6169 - 40.8 pounds So when the head is attached, it's pretty heavy. But when you separate the head from the base, which is a pretty...

  • Will Demco Recon Stealth Work With Flatbed That Has Recessed Gooseneck Ball?
Kevin, this one # DM63UV won’t be a fit for that setup, but there are other solutions! The Recon Stealth is designed for a standard above-bed gooseneck ball 4" or 5" tall. There isn’t a version for recessed balls right now, so it won’t work on most flatbeds. Older Demco Recon models did have recessed-ball options such as # DM93YV, but the Stealth doesn’t at this time. What kind of flatbed are you running? And what's the trailer?

  • Where Do You Store Demco Recon Gooseneck To 5th Wheel Adapter When Not In Use?
Hey Tom, if you go with the hitch-only version # DM63UV, most people either store the pieces in the bed or take them out and keep them in the garage. The nice thing is that the Recon Stealth breaks down into three smaller sections, and the base folds down, so it’s much easier to store than a full-size hitch. But without the MOLLE panel kits, you won’t have that dedicated front-of-bed mounting spot. I recommend looking into the complete setup with MOLLE storage kit for front of bed storage: -...

  • Is New Demco Recon Stealth Hitch Head Same As Older Recon?
Hey there Chad, it’s the same head. The universal Recon Stealth # DM63UV for the uses the same hitch head # dm6169 as the older Recon models, so you’re getting the same wraparound jaw and locking bar design at the kingpin. The difference with the Stealth is really the base - it folds down and breaks into three pieces for easier handling and storage. Are you upgrading from an older Recon or just comparing options?

  • Will Demco Recon Stealth Hitch Adapter Work In Short Bed Truck? 5th Wheel RV With Tapered Nose
Hey Ashley, if your trailer has a modern tapered front cap, there’s a good chance this setup will work - but it’s still worth double-checking your clearance. The Demco Recon Stealth models like # DM63UV (universal) , # DM54QJ (Ford), # DM82SJ (Chevy/GMC), and # DM22SJ (RAM) are all fixed hitches (no slider), so in a short bed truck, everything comes down to cab-to-trailer clearance when turning. You can check it using this formula: (A + B) - C = Clearance A = Distance from the center...

  • Is Demco Recon Stealth Adapter Better Than Gooseneck Trailer Adapters On Trailer Side?
Hey Derek, that’s a smart question! Most don't think about the different options. Both have their purpose, so there isn't really an easy answer. With the Demco Recon Stealth hitch like # DM63UV, or the MOLLE panel kits for specific vehicle fits # DM54QJ, # DM82SJ, and # DM22SJ, you’re getting a true 5th wheel hitch connection at the kingpin, just mounted to your gooseneck ball. That’s different from a trailer-mounted gooseneck adapter, which changes the connection on the trailer side,...

  • Is The New Demco Recon Stealth Easier To Remove Than Standard 5th wheel Hitch?
Hey Luis, congrats on the brand-new truck. This one’s much more manageable than a traditional 5th wheel hitch / adapter. It breaks down into three pieces, so you’re not lifting one big unit, and the base folds down so it’s not sticking up in the bed when it’s not assembled. The old Recons are still nice, but these are a huge improvement when it comes to saving space in the truck bed. If you go with one of the vehicle-specific kits, you also get a MOLLE panel to store everything at the...

  • Can I Use Universal Demco Recon Stealth Gooseneck Ball To Fifth Wheel Hitch In 2023 Silverado 2500?
Hey Brian, you can use either one - as long as your truck has a factory gooseneck ball or an aftermarket ball that matches OEM height 4" or 5", the hitch will fit and tow the same. The hitch itself is identical between the # DM63UV and the # DM82SJ. Same head, same base, same connection point. The reason the # DM82SJ is vehicle-specific is because of the MOLLE panel mounting brackets. Those brackets are designed to match the front wall of specific truck beds, so the storage panel installs...
