What Low-Profile Roof Rack System will Work with My 2016 Ford Explorer with a Bare Roof?

Question:

Hi, this is Charlie, roof #2 best describe mine. I have a 2016 ford Explorer police Interceptor no sun roof, never had rails of any kind. So for main rails Id like long and low to the roof. For mounting would love not to the headliner. Then add cross bars to support the longest roof rack available. TIA for any help, Charlie

I have a solution for you. The only roof rack system we have available that will work with your 2016 Ford Explorer's bare roof is the Seasucker Monkey Bars - 48" # 298-SX6000B. The height of the Seasucker Monkey Bars is just under 4-1/2 inches from the top of the roof to the top of the crossbars. One great feature is the mounting vacuum cups. The vacuum cups secure tightly to the roof's vehicle and gives your vehicle 150 pounds of maximum carrying capacity. The Monkey Bars has the easiest installation out of any crossbar system we carry.

If you need straps for your cargo, I recommend the Cam Buckle Tie-Down Straps for SeaSucker Monkey Bars - 1" Wide x 10' Long - Qty 2 # 298-SA0010. For extra security, you can use the etrailer Cable Lock - 10' Long - 5/16" Diameter - Steel - Keyed Alike # e98891 to lock around your cargo and the rack itself. To add security to the rack, you can lock the cable lock to the SeaSucker Cable Anchor for Cable Lock - Window Mounted # 298-BA0010.

With the Seasucker Monkey Bars, you will be able to mount accessories and cargo on your 2016 Ford Explorer.
