Will the Rhino Rack Tracks Work with Yakima Control Towers and What Is the Length of Mounting Bolts

Question:

Couple questions: 1 How long are the T-bolts? 2 Do these tracks work with Yakima Control Towers and Landing Pads, and if so, which number of Landing Pad? 3 Can one cut the tracks shorter? 4 How many bolts are recommended for installation of each track?

Helpful Expert Reply:

The 63 inch Rhino Rack RTC Style Roof Rack Tracks, # RTC16, come with 8 T-bolts for each track, 16 total, and each T-bolt measures 1 inch long.

Although manufacturers typically do not recommend using another company's towers on their track, I went to our warehouse and pulled a set of the RT Style Rhino Roof Tracks and the Yakima Landing Pad1, #Y00221 to perform a test fit to ensure compatibility. All parts performed just as they should so yes, the Rhino Rack RTC Style Tracks will work with the Yakima Control Towers, # Y8890027, and Landing Pad1, # Y00221.

We do offer shorter tracks like the # RTC14 which are 55 inches long. If one of the shorter track lengths still do not work for you, I spoke with my contact at Rhino Rack and he said that the tracks can be cut shorter.

The number of T-bolts that are recommended for installation is going to depend on the length of the track.
