Vent Solution for Trailer Tongue Box that Holds In Moisture

Updated 06/21/2021 | Published 06/17/2021

Question:

I recently bought an open car trailer with a tongue box. I put my straps and other things in the box before a road trip. I encountered rain on the trip and found water inside when I went into it. When I returned home, I removed everything and completely dried the inside of the box. Then I put the desired things back in the box and verified the seal around the boxtop. Several hot days later without rain, I opened the box and everything was wet! This has to mean that condensation from temperature change must be the water source. Is this a common problem? What is the solution? Is venting required? If so, can you make a recommendation?

That is really strange and would indicate that your box is holding in condensation and not allowing it to vent out. The part # WHMAV2 would be a great solution to allow it to vent and prevent the moisture as long gas you sealed it up with a sealant like # 0160297 and had it face down.
