I am looking at the F2070 to install on a 2007 F53 chassis. The kit does not seem to include an air compressor. Is the compreesor necessary or recommended?

The Firestone # F2070 Ride Rite Air Helper Spring system is a confirmed fit for the front axle of a 2007 Ford F-53 motorhome chassis. Out of the box, the kit provides 2 Schrader valves that can be filled by using a compressor. An on-board compressor is a very handy and convenient feature to have so you can adjust the pressure in the system according to the loads carried and road conditions you encounter from the comfort of the motorhome, but it's not absolutely necessary.
If you were also needing a kit for the rear axle, use # F2170.
For a compressor system, you'd need to use a dual-path compressor system that would operate both front springs as a unit and both rears as a unit. It that's something you'd be interested in, I'd recommend the # F2219 dual-path compressor system. I'll link to a typical installation video.
