Troubleshooting Curt Vehicle Wiring Harness Causing Vehicle Turn Signals To Not Function.

Question:

Hello, I purchased and installed the Curt C56224 taillight ocnverter for my 2013 Volvo S60, but have a curious problem. When installed according to the directions, all lighting functions work, aside from the passenger side turn signals front and rear. When signalling a right turn ONLY, neither the vehicles front headlight or rear headlight amber turn indicators flash, but the amber indicator on the door mirror and the turn signal indicator on the dash speed up their rate of flashing compared to normal cadence. All other turn/brake, headlights on/off combinations work normally. Disconnecting the taillight converter returns normal passenger side turn signal functions. I have verified 12V power from the battery and ground continuity to the converter. This would suggest that either the converter is bad or is not compatible with this vehicle as the website suggestsplease advise. Also, the instructions refer to a separate sheet/ CME-PCL-INSinch for directions to route the hot lead wire underneath the vehicle to the battery, but there is no similar manual in the box or on the eTrailer websiteonly generic instructions and example pictures.

It sounds as if one of the pins is either damaged on a connector or in the wrong place from the factory on the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56224.

First check the connectors on the Curt harness for any pins or receptacles that appear to be bent, broken, pushed out of their socket or damaged in any way.

The only way to determine if one of the wires is installed in the wrong location is to trace the wires on the Curt harness. Since most of the wires used on the right side are simply looped it should be easy to determine if the one green wire goes in to the same place it exits on the other connector.

The vehicle lights should continue to function as normal with the harness installed even if the module becomes damaged or power is lost to the module.
