Can The Swagman XTC-2 Be Used With A Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver On A 2020 Kia Soul

Question:

I have a Kia Soul which only allows for a class 1 hitch. Will the Swagman XTC-2 work with the class 1 hitch? I ask because the Swagman website says it will only work on class 2 and above. Thanks for your help.

I reached out to Swagman and my contact confirmed that the Swagman XTC-2 2 Bike Platform Rack # S64670 will work with a Class I trailer hitch receiver on your 2020 Kia Soul. She mentioned the reason they only show Class II on their website is to make sure customers are conscious to check the tongue weight rating of their vehicle and trailer hitch receiver to ensure they are not overloaded.

If you do not have a trailer hitch receiver for your 2020 Kia Soul yet I highly recommend the Draw-Tite Max-frame Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT25GR which offers a maximum tongue weight rating of 300 lbs, a maximum trailer weight rating of 2000lbs and does not require the use of a support strap when carrying a non-trailer load like the Curt # C67FR. Since the Swagman XTC-2 # S64670 weighs around 30lbs and can carry two 35lb bikes you will be at less than half of the maximum tongue weight the Draw-Tite # DT25GR is rated for.
