Question:
Hi, I’m trying to decide between a Curt 13119 2-inch hitch or a Draw-Tite Max Frame Trailer Hitch #75742 for my 2013 Honda CR-V. It will be used with an older Thule Helium 970XT 3 bike rack and a small sail-dinghy trailer. The Honda CR-V tow limit is 1500 lbs and the tongue weight is ~150 lbs. My confusion is that in your QandA, “Michael H” and “Bob G” recommend using the Draw-Tite 75742 because it doesn’t need the Support Strap that the Curt 13119 requires. But later “Michael H” recommends the Curt. “Chris R” and “Jameson C” recommend the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13119. So?

Helpful Expert Reply:
I understand your confusion on seeing answers that recommend both the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13119 and the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75742. Both are a great fit, but the intended use of the hitch is a key factor on deciding which trailer hitch receiver is right for you. I recommend the Draw-tite # 75742 as it does not require a Support Strap where the Curt # C13119 requires Support Strap # 18050 for any non trailer loads such as your Thule Helium 970XT 3 Bike Rack for the manufactures warranty. I attached the install video for the Draw-Tite # 75742 for you to review.
I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118561 to be able to plug in your trailer when towing. I attached an install video for you as well.
