Wring Needed for 2000 Dodge Ram to Install Brake Controller

Updated 09/10/2020 | Published 09/08/2020

Question:

I want to add a 7 pole and a 4 pole connector to my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 that does not have trailer wiring. It does have the connector under the dash for the brake controller. I want to add a brake controller for trailer brakes and wire the truck up to engage the trailer brakes. I cant find on your web site the wiring kit and instructions for this. Hope you can direct me to the right parts and instructions. Thanks

We can definitely point you in the right direction to get you the needed wiring and a brake controller for your 2000 Dodge Ram. The exact parts you need for the wiring is the following:

- T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118329

- Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7

The 4-way is needed for the trailer lights, and will plug into the 7-way that comes with the Installation Kit. These parts will allow you to use a brake controller, and for that I recommend the the Brake EVN # TK63VR.

The Brake EVN is a great value due to its unique combination of quality while being budget-friendly relative to other brake controllers. The Brake EVN is going to give you smooth braking, is easy to use, and has a bright display that is simple to read and understand. For a combination of quality, reliability, and price, there really isn't a better option than the Brake Evn .

To use the Brake EVN you will also need the Brake Control Harness # 20127.

In regards to instructions, I have added links below to the written instructions, as well as links to help articles on installing these parts, and video installs for you which will help guide you through the process.
